Struggling to follow your 100-mile diet? What if the city of Toronto were to grow fruits and vegetables above Union Station’s train platform or underneath the Gardiner Expressway? Or if it built greenhouses inside co-op housing or schools? 
» Growing toward a sustainable campus

A quick tour of the University of Toronto’s sprawling St. George campus reveals a school that, for all intents and purposes, is old. The University of Guelph, too, which lies just an hour outside of Toronto, is a sweeping campus studded with stunning 19th century architecture. These buildings are nowhere near becoming decrepit, but they’re certainly no marvels of modern design.

On Sept. 20, the Sierra Club and other organizations took over Yonge-Dundas Square for Car Free Day Canada.

The event, held annually, raises awareness about alternative transit.
