Lee Zaslofsky trained as an infantry soldier in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

But when the army asked him to go to Vietnam in December 1969, he decided to desert the army and move to Toronto. He had witnessed the disillusionment of soldiers returning from harsh conditions in Vietnam and could not justify his own participation in a war he viewed as misguided.

Students in Ryerson's Master of Journalism program have compiled a multimedia package on what sports, culture, love and politics mean to immigrants to Toronto.
