#7:Ryerson, along with a number of other Canadian universities, decided not to participate in
Maclean's magazine's annual university ranking issue.
In a letter sent Aug.14, 11 universities-- including McMaster University, University of Toronto, University of Alberta, University of British Columbia and University of Ottawa-- called Maclean’s method of compiling data for the rankings “
over-simplified and arbitrary.” In retaliation, the magazine pursued legal avenues to obtain the information needed to complete their issue.
